Kathy Cornwell has spent over 40 years in local media, starting her career with an internship at WCBC in the late 1980s. After graduating from Frostburg State University, she worked extensively in cable television advertising and programming with Comcast. From 2002 to 2005, she was married to WCBC's Jim Robey. Kathy returned to the News Department at WCBC in 2023. She lives in Cumberland with her husband, retired radio station manager Rich Cornwell.
Allegany County Schools will dismiss two hours early today, Friday, February 6. All evening events and activities are cancelled. The SkillsUSA event for Saturday is postponed.
Bishop Walsh School will dismiss at 12:45pm today, Friday, February 6.
Lighthouse Christian Academy will dismiss at 1pm today, Friday, February 6.
Messiah Christian Academy will dismiss at 12:30pm today, Friday, February 6.
Mineral County schools are also closing two (2) hours early today, Friday, February 6, 2026.
Garrett County Public Schools will dismiss two (2) hours early today, Friday, February 6, 2026. Central Office Facilities will close at 3:00 p.m. All afternoon and evening activities are canceled for today. All activities scheduled before noon on Saturday, February 7, 2026, are canceled. Conditions will be reassessed on Saturday morning and a notice will be shared if additional cancellations are necessary.
