Henderson Ave CDS Arrest

On Thursday, March 26th, 2026, an officer with the Cumberland Police Department observed a Dodge truck in the area of Henderson Ave cross a double yellow line. The truck was stopped and contact made with the two occupants, Bethany Marie Rafferty, 36, and Derek Alan Younger, 35, both of Cumberland MD. During the course of the stop, a police K9 was utilized to conduct a free air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle which alerted to the presence of CDS inside the vehicle. During a subsequent search of the vehicle and occupants, amounts of suspected cocaine were located. As a result, both subjects were placed under arrest and taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance. Rafferty was released on her own recognizance. Younger was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center where he is being held without bond.
