Hit and Run Arrest on Sylvan Ave

On Saturday, August 1, 2026, Cumberland Police Department Officers responded to the 600 Block of Sylvan Avenue for the report of a hit an run investigtion. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the complainant, Andrew Crabtree, who initially advised that he was involved in a hit-and-run in the downtown area. Through an investigation, it was discovered that Crabtree had provided false information to Officers and the crash he caused had actually occurred on Sylvan Avenue. Crabtree had struck a parked vehicle and then fled the scene. Crabtree was placed under arrest and taken before a district court commissioner, where he was released on a $2,500 bond pending his trial.

ARRESTED: Andrew Michael Crabtree, 28, Cumberland, MD.

CHARGES: False Statement, Obstructing and Hindering, Hit-and-Run Traffic Charges.
