“National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett says the U.S. Economy remains strong.  Hassett: We see durable goods orders, capital spending through the roof. People aren’t being laid off. Initial claims for unemployment insurance are about the lowest they’ve had since World War II.  Hassett attributes the job cuts to seasonal trends like the end of temporary World Cup workers in the hospitality industry and local school districts delaying the end of the school year.”
