Local Leaders Work to Reappropriate Dollars for Edward’s Fund

Just shy of four weeks remain until Maryland’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget is finalized.  The George Edward’s Fund is not included this year since Governor Wes Moore is putting $12 million toward George’s Creek flood relief funds. However, Cumberland City Lobbyist Rich Reinhardt told the mayor and council during Tuesday’s Open Work Session that he and local leaders are working to reappropriate other dollars in the FY27 budget to the Edward’s fund…

“I can’t say specifically what that number is, because that’ll just be speculation, but we’re hoping that there’s something that can give an equal distribution for the three Western Maryland jurisdictions.”
