MACO Meetings Important For City

The Maryland Association of Counties is holding its summer conference this week, with several members of Cumberland city government attending. In addition to the educational classes and forums offered, Mayor Ray Morriss tells WCBC a number of meetings are planned with state officials at MACO…

“With Secretary Weisman, he’s the secretary of budget and management. We have a meeting with senate president Bill Ferguson, we’ll be seeing the speaker of the house while we’re there. I’ll be seeing the governor and I’ll also be seeing the comptroller while I’m there.”

The city has two points they want to push at the conference…

“To make sure that we can get the George Edwards Fund fully funded and consistency of the disparity grants for Allegany County. We put those as probably the top two priorities.”
