Maryland Redistricting bill unlikely to pass in Senate

Chris Myers

Chris Myers is the Morning Show Producer, Broadcaster, at WCBC Radio in Cumberland, Maryland. Myers handles various operational, engineering duties for the station and directs the morning news. In addition to his broadcasting role, Myers is a prominent downtown Cumberland businessman and an active community member who helps organize local events. Myers has been with the Cumberland Broadcasting Company, which operates WCBC, since August 2019 and began his career in radio broadcasting at the age of 14 as a board engineer for WQOL in Florida. In 1998 he was promoted to Chief Engineer for WTTB 1490AM and WGYL 93.7FM. In 2001 Treasure Coast broadcasters purchased additional stations WOSN, WPAW and WGNX.

A bill to redraw Maryland’s congressional maps passed in the House, but is essentially dead in the Senate. Maryland Senate President Bill Ferguson said the bill will likely stay in the committee, saying the window has closed and not come to the floor for a vote. He added “Midcycle redistricting historically, and now, is a path to mutually assured destruction.”
