McKay Concerned About Possible Program Cuts
When the Maryland General Assembly goes back to work this Wednesday, it will be facing questions of how to overcome a growing state deficit, while not passing on more costs to Maryland taxpayers. Tax increases seem unlikely since it is an election year, but that means some programs important to Western Maryland may see cuts, according to Senator Mike McKay…
“I’m really concerned about the Department of Natural Resources and what they call Open Space programs – that’s stuff for parks and playgrounds – those type of things. And I think those are the ones that are going to get the low-hanging fruit and get cut.”
