Medicare Part D Subsidy Program End Could Increase Costs for Millions

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid will end Biden Era Medicare Part D subsidies in December.  The program provided a $15-per-month subsidy for premiums and capped premium increases at $35 annually, according to the Pennsylvania Independent’s Josh Israel…

“This was a subsidy that was designed to bring the cost down for people who have Medicare Part D, and it did. I think twenty-five million people subscribed to Medicare Part D and would have benefited from this.”

Israel says changes will affect older Pennsylvanians with monthly bills increasing for a number of those subscribers…

“For a good portion, it will be less than $10 a month. For about 45%, it’ll be between $11 and $20 a month.”
