Memorial Day Drivers Not Overly Concerned With Gas Prices

The average price of gas in the United States right now stands at $4.56 per gallon, according to AAA, with the average in Maryland sitting at $4.47. Nearly 88% of Marylanders will travel by vehicle to their holiday weekend destinations, with many expected to travel more than 50 miles from home.  Overall, more than 45 million travelers will be out this weekend. Mark Jenkins with AAA says that for most vacationers, they are not looking at gas prices as an issue…

“Travelers seem undeterred by this. They want to take a trip. It’s just going to cost a little bit more money to do so. In many cases, some people aren’t really phased by the higher gas prices. Others – it might impact how they travel.”
