Governor Wes Moore signed the Fiscal Year 2027 Maryland state budget into law Wednesday. According to the governor, the budget includes no new taxes or fees, maintains the state’s Rainy Day Fund at 8%, increases the state’s Fund Balance to $250 million, and has General Fund expenditures smaller than the Fiscal Year 2026 General Fund budget. Moore said the budget invests in and for Marylanders…

“This budget protects our people. This budget makes life just a little bit more affordable for our people. This budget strengthens Maryland’s economic competitiveness.”

Senate President Bill Ferguson said budget decisions did not mean values had been abandoned…

“As I said throughout this process, we are going to and have continued to protect our most vulnerable in our society. And this budget does exactly that, thoughtfully and purposely.”
