Moore’s Budget Includes Funds For Georges Creek
Governor Moore’s fiscal year 2027 budget releases today and WCBC can share that money has been included in the budget for flood recovery in Georges’ Creek. District 1 Senator Mike McKay told WCBC News he received a personal call from Wes Moore…
“So, I just got off the phone with Governor Moore who called to let me know that his commitment to Georges Creek is going to be reflected in the budget. He’s unveiling that he’s going to be putting in $12 million dollars into infrastructure, libraries, those types of things.”
McKay said the delegation has to work to keep that money in the budget now, but feels they have the support to do so…
“I definitely believe we have the “oomph” to keep it in there. We’re going to be talking to both budget committees – budget and tax, and the appropriations, presenting them. The Georges Creek Task Force definitely defines and clears a path for the state backfilling some of that money.”
