Morrisey Says State Needs Ready Workers

Kathy Cornwell

Much of Governor Patrick Morrisey’s State of the State speech for West Virginia was on a positive keel, but he did use caution over one issue – a shortage of workers. With the economic investments being made in the state, Morrisey says there will be an increasing need soon for skilled workers coming from the state’s colleges and technical schools…

“We may need at least 15- to 20,000 new construction workers alone to meet the demand for projects in the next few years. That means more electricians, more plumbers. More skilled trade professionals who can power our growth. And that requires investing in our technical schools that train our workforce.”
