UPDATE: Motorist Hits Bicyclist In Crash on Greene Street

UPDATE:  Cumberland City Police have charged the driver involved in the crash where a bicyclist was hit along Greene Street on Wednesday evening.  As a result of the preliminary investigation, Levi Jones of Cumberland was arrested for CDS possession other than marijuana.  Additionally, Jones was charged with several traffic offenses for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by a controlled dangerous substance and is pending trial in District Court. 

The crash remains an active investigation by the Cumberland Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team with assistance from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team.

On 7/22/2026 at approximately 5:50 PM the Cumberland City Police responded to 26 Greene Street for a motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist. The cyclist was taken by Cumberland Fire Department to UPMC Western Maryland. The crash remains under investigation by the Cumberland Police Crash Team assisted by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Crash team. If there are any witnesses to the accident or any additional information, please contact Sgt Sullivan at 301-777-1600. Additional details will be released once the investigation is complete.
