Northrop Expanding Propulsion Program

Northrop Grumman will develop next-generation air-breathing propulsion for the U.S. Army to enhance the range and defense capabilities of its Extended Range Counter Unmanned Aircraft System. The company will develop solid fuel ramjets that use atmospheric oxygen as the oxidizer for fuel in flight. Program development will be conducted at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory in Rocket Center, West Virginia. The contract for the work is $18.8 million dollars.
