Open Clinic A Possibility For Shelter
Controlling costs at the Allegany County Animal Shelter is important for both the community and the county as budget time approaches. At a recent work session, shelter director Jodi Eirich floated the idea of opening their animal vet clinic to the public on a limited basis, helping both home owners and the shelter with covering expenses…
“There’s such a need here in Allegany County for people to get their pets spayed and neutered but they can’t afford it. It’s so expensive when they go to the vet. We could offer reduced costs – about a third of what they’d pay at the vet. We could generate a little bit of money from that. At the same time, it reduces the number of pets going to the vet, so that would reduce our spending.”
