Lower gas prices may encourage more July 4th travelers this weekend. Over 72 million Americans are expected to travel nationwide, and 1.5 million Maryland residents are planning on trips of 50 miles or more for the weekend, according to AAA. Washington D.C. may see a high volume of drivers as the America250 celebrations continue through the weekend. AAA spokesman Nick Chabria says travel will be more condensed than on other holidays…

“It’s not going to look exactly like, for example, Memorial Day travel where everything is kind of crammed into one long weekend. But by and large, the busiest day for travel will actually be on the July 4th holiday itself.”
