PA Groups Rally Against Data Centers

Advocacy groups held a rally in Pennsylvania’s capitol recently to protest the tech industry’s growth of data centers for artificial intelligence, urging legislators to safeguard residents and the environment. Mary Collier with Pennsylvania Stands Up says with nearly 40% of families struggling financially, she questions why public funds support Big Tech rather than projects that create stable, family-supporting jobs…
“We’re seeing across the country that most of these centers are promising a bunch of jobs, but the construction jobs really are a handful of the same companies that are traveling across the country to build them, so it’s not even local construction jobs. And then once they’re built, the only jobs are security, lawn maintenance, and a couple, like, janitorial roles.”
