Thousands of hotel nights and hundreds of production crew have made Cumberland their home this week as scenes for Paramount’s “Mayor of Kingstown” are shot at the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. Railroad director Wes Heinz shared with WCBC how his relationship with a film consultant brought the show to town…

“So we’ve been working for years to try and find the right kind of show and this just happened to fit what they were looking for. The show is shot in Pittsburgh and this rail piece, the station and the train piece, they just couldn’t do it in Pittsburgh. And everything they needed, Cumberland had.”

Heinz said it’s a great economic push to start the summer for the area…

“At the railroad, we’re fighting for market share every day because so many people are not travelling right now. So, this is a great thing that so many businesses are being positively impacted by Paramount’s presence.”
