Park Street Assault Arrest

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, Cumberland Police Department Officers responded to Park Street for a report of a male attempting an assault with a knife. Upon arrival, officers detained the suspect, Zachary Stewart, who at that time was in possession of a knife. The investigation revealed that Stewart approached the victim in a parking lot, struck the victim’s vehicle window with the knife, and slashed a tire. Stewart was arrested and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.
