Ahead of the state’s primary election on May 12, thousands of West Virginia residents have made decisions to switch parties – mostly from Democrat to Republican.  West Virginia Secretary of State Kris Warner said more than 65,000 voters have changed parties since the end of 2024 with almost 17,000 moving from the Democratic party to the GOP along with 20,000 unaffiliated voters choosing to become Republicans. Early voting for the May election started this week in the Mountain State.
