Pirates Drop Season Opener

A disastrous first inning spelled doom for the Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday afternoon as they lost to the New York Mets, 11-7. Oneil Cruz misjudged two fly balls in the inning and Paul Skenes left the game in that inning, charged with five runs. Newcomer Brandon Lowe clubbed two home runs and another newcomer, Ryan O’Hearn, also homered. The Pirates are off Friday and will resume the series with the Mets Saturday afternoon.
