Progress On Bel Air Water System

Dr. Larry Smith and Allegany County Commission President Dave Caporale joined the Dave Norman show Friday for an update on efforts of condemnation and eminent domain of the Bel Air water system.  Caporale says this way is the best if not only solution…

“We’re making progress. We have the backing and the assurance from our state and federal partners that once the purchase process is completed, they can be there and we can start to design out how we would need to upgrade infrastructure and what the needs would be over maybe several phases.”

“Any private water company can’t meet the necessary economies of scale that is necessary to provide water in these areas. We’re talking about 2,200 people, a poor rural Appalachian county, where there’s already a massive exodus of population.”
