PSC Approves Water System Sale

Allegany County Attorney Lee Beeman has informed the county commissioners that the Public Service Commission has approved the sale of the Bel Air water system, currently owned by Maryland Water Service, to American Water. Beeman said the county requested a public hearing for citizen and government input, but it did not receive a favorable answer from the PSC…

“They declined to do so. They basically stated that while the commission appreciates Allegany County’s request for a hearing and its interest in protecting residents, the commission finds that the records in this proceeding including the proposed conditional language submitted by the parties sufficiently addresses the principal issues.”
