Rainy Day Fund Could Be Tapped For County
As the Maryland legislature begins its 90-day session in Annapolis, some attention will be focused on how the state can aid Allegany County in recovering from May’s flooding. FEMA denied the county’s request for recovery funds – estimates on damage are near $35 million dollars. House Minority Leader Jason Buckel says the area delegation will be asking for help from the aptly named Rainy Day Fund which has about $2 billion dollars…
“That’s not going to negatively impact the long-term health of the rainy day fund. It’s more just a philosophical debate and discussion and we’re going to be making it, we have been making it for some time and we’re going to make it during this budget process.”
