Relationship is Key Across Party Lines

In the past month, Western Maryland has had visits from state Comptroller Brooke Lierman, Congresswoman April McClain-Delaney, and Governor Wes Moore. Very often, these visits are check-ins on how funding is being utilized or what money or programs are needed in the region. Whenever available, Senator Mike McKay greets and travels with the state representatives. He says showing up is important for future endeavors…

“When anybody comes to town, I think it’s important that the local elected officials are there to greet them because it’s about relationships. We may disagree on policy, but if we’re going to be able to get anything, we at least have relationship with somebody.”
