Report Shows Severe Shortage Of Mental Health Providers
According to a new report from Inseparable, a mental health advocacy group, Maryland only meets 22% of its mental health workforce need. Maryland patients are forced to go out of network 8 times more often for such care. Mental health in schools was bolstered by Governor Wes Moore’s Maryland Educator Shortage Reduction Act which he says helped recruit providers into schools…
“That was really important because I think it wasn’t just about the mental health for the young people, but it is also about how you support the mental health for the educators and the people in the classroom. We made it part of our budget being very intentional about being able to support it and it’s something we’ll continue doing.”
