Republicans Sometimes At Odds Within Party

Maryland Democrats hold a super-majority in the house and senate in Annapolis, but sometimes disagree over issues including energy and how to handle a $1.5 billion deficit.  The same goes for Republicans in the legislature. The Maryland Freedom Caucus has placed criticism on and drawn criticism from party leaders including Jason Buckel who told WBAL Radio the group is more about attention than results…

“They would take credit for the sun coming up in the morning and the moon coming up at night and the wind blowing. They take credit for things that have absolutely nothing to do with their work because they really desire attention.”

Buckel said when the Freedom Caucus began, they had better focus on what they wanted to do…

“A lot of social issues. They’re usually the people who are most involved in pushing issues on transgender things, abortion rights, things of that nature.”
