Savage Highlands Open To Visitors

Maryland’s newest state park is welcoming visitors in Garrett County. Savage Highlands State Park, formerly the home of Savage River Lodge, has been undergoing renovations through the Department of Natural Resources to improve accessibility. The park features a lodge, eighteen cabins, and eight yurts. State Comptroller Brooke Lierman said the park brings economic benefits regionally…
“This park will really benefit the local economy by bringing people who are looking for that upgraded camping experience in a really beautiful area. It’s a really nice opportunity to add something to the state park system that we really don’t have.”
