Senator Warns Against House Bill 432

Kathy Cornwell

Senator Justin Ready is preparing to fight against a bill recently passed by the Maryland House dealing with vagrancy. House Bill 432 passed by a vote of 100 to 35 and would repeal local authority over vagrancy issues. The Senator says it is a radical bill which is anti-public safety. The bill is now in the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee…

“Which basically tells towns and counties you can’t outlaw vagrancy any more. You can’t clear encampments off of sidewalks or underneath bridges. You can’t even for the safety of homeless people force them to go to a shelter or clear out.”
