Sewage Overflow in Potomac River

A broken sewage pipe has spewed an estimated 243 million gallons into the Potomac River, according to Washington, DC officials.  The overflow was at its worst from Jan. 19 to Jan. 24.  Since then, most of the sewage has been directed into the C&O Canal.  Washington’s water supply is unaffected at this point.
