The stretch of highway has long been troublesome and dangerous for speeding and has been the scene of several crashes and deaths.  Sheriff Robertson would like speed cameras installed, and says it would be a safer alternative to having patrols running in the area. “Anybody that travels that road knows there are very few spaces that you could pull a car off that’s safe. I don’t want to jeopardize the safety of any of my deputies. I don’t want to jeopardize the citizens that are driving in that area by pulling them over along those roadways and take the chance of being struck by another vehicle.”
