Sine Die In Annapolis

Kathy Cornwell

Today marks “Sine Die” in Annapolis, the official end of the yearly legislative session for state lawmakers. This year, the General Assembly was able to pass a $71 billion dollar budget with no new tax or fee increases for residents, but still faces deficits in outlying years.  The Utility Relief act passed promises state ratepayers some help with rising utility bills. The Governor also included $12 million dollars in the budget for flood relief efforts in the Georges Creek area as well as $9 million dollars for the Western Maryland Economic Futures Fund – aka the George Edwards Fund.
