“Slow The Fast Down” Campaign

Maryland Slow The Fast Down Campaign
Kathy Cornwell

A new campaign aimed at getting Maryland drivers to slow down, especially in work zones has launched. “Slow The Fast Down” will use billboards, social media, and other outlets to focus on excessive speed being the contributing factor in one-third of fatal motor crashes. Transportation Secretary Katie Thompson says speeding is a major problem…

“We continue to see people driving too fast in our work zones and across our system at large. Some going more than 130 miles per hour. So far this year, there have been 210 incidents of people driving faster than 100 miles per hour in Maryland work zones.”

Governor Wes Moore said a change must happen to protect workers and other drivers…

“We can and we must keep reducing fatalities. We can and we must make our roads safer for our people. We can and we must act now.”
