Sports Wagers Bring In Almost $16 Million Tax Dollars In December
NFL teams vying for playoff spots, the start of the college basketball season, as well as hockey and basketball all combined for a winning month for Maryland’s sports wagering market. The state gained $15.7 million dollars in tax revenue from the 11 retail and 12 mobile sports books. Maryland bettors in December wagered $636 million dollars on events throughout the month and won back $555.6 million dollars. Tax revenue from sports books goes to the Blueprint for Education fund and the state’s general fund.
