United Way Accepting Requests for Funding
Potomac Highlands United Way is accepting requests from non-profit groups in Allegany, Garrett, Hampshire and Mineral Counties for programming helping ALICE families. ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. This year, $30,000 is available to help the ALICE population. The application deadline is April 15th. Director Michelle Walker says programs should assist unmet needs including housing, food insecurity, and childcare…
“Our hope is that they develop programs that collaborate with other nonprofits or schools or other entities in the community that will help ALICE households become more stable. Try to help them work on what’s causing them to have problems making their bills other than a low salary.”
