Updates Make Filling Patrol Jobs Easier
Last week, the Cumberland City Police Department welcomed seven new patrol officers to its ranks. The officers were sworn in at the Mayor and Council meeting. Until recently, according to Mayor Ray Morriss, it had been difficult to get experienced patrol officers, but some updates have made it more expedient for officers to be hired…
“The State of Maryland had made it always rather difficult going through the academy, but when they changed the format and allowed where police officers from other districts to move in and reduced the requirements. They still had requirements that they had to meet to match state requirements but not as much time in the academy.”
