UPMC Western Maryland Now Part Of Hillman

UPMC Western Maryland has aligned itself with the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh to bring more options for local cancer patients. Local CRNP Jamie O’Connor said the two hospitals work as a team…

“We’ve got a big, giant team in Pittsburgh that we work with. We look at scans, we look at the patient’s overall picture and say ‘is this really the best treatment option for them and will it give them the best quality of life.’”

The partnership with Hillman allows for expanded patient care locally…

“That allows us to grab treatment and bring it here to the area so we really don’t need to travel for many things. We just got a wonderful bit of funding here so we have a brand new 4-D PET scanner that’s being installed – first one available within about five hours from Pittsburgh.”
