UPMC WMD Awarded Federal Funds to Expand Cancer Center

UPMC Western Maryland has received $2.75 million in federal funding.  U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Angela Alsobrooks secured the funding for the hospital’s cancer center to purchase a new, advanced linear accelerator—LINAC—to replace an existing unit that will allow for more precise treatment of tumors in the brain and body.  The funds will also expand access to state-of-the-art radiation oncology therapy in the Cumberland region.
