Van Hollen Wants Funding Reinstated For Agencies

The partial government shutdown that started in mid-February has left over 100,000 federal government employees without pay while they continue to work. The sticking point? Funding for immigrations enforcement. Senator Chris Van Hollen spoke on the Senate Floor, calling on Republicans to stop blocking funding for TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard…
“We’re not going to give ICE a blank check. The American people don’t want us to give a blank check to ICE. But for goodness sakes, let’s not penalize folks at TSA, at FEMA, and the Coast Guard and let’s not penalize the American people by hampering those agencies.”
