Virginia Ave Assault, Disorderly Conduct Arrest

On Wednesday, August 12th, 2026, an officer with the Cumberland Police Department was on patrol in the area of Virginia Ave and Second St when they observed a male and female walking in the area. The officer then observed the female begin to assault the male, striking him in the head multiple times. The officer then intervened, separating the two subjects and detaining the female. Further investigation revealed that the two subjects had a prior verbal disagreement over domestic issues. As a result, Kyler Brooke Thornton, 27, of Frostburg MD, was placed under arrest. She appeared before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where she was released on her own recognizance.

CHARGES – Assault 2nd Degree, Disorderly Conduct.
