Virginia Man Arrested

On May 29, 2026, deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the Georges Creek area of Allegany County after observing multiple traffic violations. During the traffic stop, deputies observed indicators of impairment and initiated a driving under the influence investigation. As a result of the investigation, the driver, identified as James Robert Hunt of Stephens City, Virginia, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. Following the arrest, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered a significant quantity of suspected controlled dangerous substances, packaging materials commonly associated with narcotics distribution, and a substantial amount of U.S. currency. The investigation resulted in the seizure of multiple types of illegal narcotics, including cocaine, methamphetamine, LSD, MDMA, ketamine, psilocybin mushrooms, cannabis, and various prescription medications.  Mr. Hunt was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center and is awaiting his initial appearance with District Court. Mr. Hunt is facing numerous criminal charges, including possession of controlled dangerous substances, possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances, drug trafficking-related offenses, and driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.
