West Virginia Appealing FEMA Denial

Severe storms in June triggered flooding, landslides and mudslides across Boone and Logan counties in West Virginia.  A formal request for federal emergency assistance through FEMA was made by Governor Patrick Morrisey and like Western Maryland in May of 2025, that request was denied. Morrisey’s request did not involve a specific dollar amount but rather individual assistance and hazard mitigation funding. The state has announced it is appealing FEMA’s decision.
