West Virginia Expanding Mobile Cancer Screenings

The WVU Cancer Institute welcomed Governor Patrick Morrissey this week as he announces funding to replace and update the aging Bonnie’s Bus mobile mammography unit. Morrissey said total funding is $1.3 million dollars…

“We’re helping to provide a new mobile unit with updated equipment and better technology while expanding breast and lung cancer screening services across rural West Virginia.”

Since 2009, the mobile program has deliver 40,000 screenings and new funding will expand program reach…

“The program plans to hold up to 168 mobile screening events each year with the capacity to serve more than 5,300 patients annually.”
