WV Leaders Calling For Special Session on Gas Tax

West Virginia State Treasurer Larry Pack is aligning himself with Democratic leaders in a call for a special session to address rising gas prices. Democratic Delegate Sean Hornbuckle is calling for the session to ease pressure…
“We can’t wave a magic wand and make it go away, but we can do something on the state’s side to give some type of relief, even if temporary to our West Virginians.”
Delegate Gary Howell told WCBC that it’s unlikely the governor would agree to the move because of the financial effects on road funding…
“Because you gotta remember every dollar we lose in gas tax revenue, is four dollars in federal money that it brings down. But that’s a huge hit, so if you did it for a month and lost $25 million dollars, you’d actually lose $125 million.”
