WVU Potomac State College and Mineral Indivisible to Host “Meet the Candidates” Forum

WVU Potomac State College students of International Relations, in collaboration with Mineral Indivisible, a non-partisan community volunteer organization, will host two public “Meet the Candidates” forums this spring to give voters in West Virginia’s Districts 2, 14, 15, and 87—as well as statewide races—a direct opportunity to hear from and question the men and women seeking to represent them. The first forum, scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, will feature federal candidates running for U.S. Senate and U.S. Congress. The second forum, on Monday, April 7, will spotlight West Virginia Senate and House of Delegates candidates. Both events will be held from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in Academic Hall, Room 207, on the WVU Potomac State College campus in Keyser. To date, more than 30 candidates across both federal and state-level races have been invited to participate. Of those, 10 have confirmed their attendance. Organizers continue to encourage all invited candidates to RSVP by March 20, 2026, so that adequate preparations can be made for seating, refreshments, and audio equipment. The lecture hall seats up to 90 attendees.
In addition to hearing directly from candidates, the forums will incorporate questions submitted by the general public. An online questionnaire is currently accepting submissions from community members who wish to pose questions to their prospective representatives. Once all questions have been collected and candidate attendance confirmed, the questions will be forwarded to participants in advance so they may prepare thoughtful responses. “We sincerely hope that every candidate will accept this invitation to appear before the community,” said Stephen Settimi, forum coordinator. “These forums exist so that voters can exercise their franchise — not just on election day, but right now, by hearing directly from the people asking to represent them.”
The events are free and open to the public at WVU Potomac State College, Academic Hall, Room 207, 101 Fort Ave, Keyser, WV 26726. All community members are encouraged to attend.
