Delaney Promises Minimum Wage Campaign

Those trying to raise the state’s minimum wage will have an ally in U.S. Represenative John Delaney when the Maryland General Assembly convenes in January.  Delaney, a Democrat who represents the 6th Congressional District that includes Allegany County,  is promising a campaign using his personal funds to make the argument for a higher minimum wage in the state.  Delaney feels so strongly about the issue that he announced last month that he would draw upon his personal funds to launch a campaign to raise the state’s minimum wage in next year’s legislative session. A bill to increase the minimum wage failed to get out of a senate committee during this years general assembly session.  Delaney said the campaign would involve a grass-roots component, digital ads and more traditional media, including television, as the start of the legislative session draws closer. The congressman said a such a change is way overdue…
