Planning And Fundraising For New Animal Shelter Continue

Overcrowded conditions and the spread of disease are not uncommon at animal shelters across the nation at this time of year- however the hope remains that a new facility in Allegany County will go a long way toward solving those problems. The Allegany County Animal Shelter Management Foundation is in the process of planning and continuing fundraising for a new county animal shelter. The cost of the new shelter, projected to be around one million dollars, will be paid for with private donations.  County Commissioner Bill Valentine says talks are underway that would see the new facility used solely to house the animal ready for adoption, while the existing shelter would remain in use to take in new animals temporarily to control the spread of disease. He says an official announcement with all of the details should be coming later this summer…
