Just a couple of days remain for Marylanders seeking to take advantage of the state’s annual “back to school” tax free week. Qualifying articles of clothing or footwear, costing $100 or less, are available for purchase—without paying the State’s six percent sales tax. The concept was generated by the state’s comptroller Peter Franchot. He says that for retailers, back-to-school shopping is known as the second largest shopping season- behind only the holiday shopping period. ..
