Board Candidates Comment on Kirwan Commission Taxes

May 28th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

There are currently nine candidates for the Allegany County Board of Education and eight attended Wednesday night’s candidate forum on WCBC Radio.  Incumbent David Bohn opted not to attend due to work obligations.  Three seats are up for grabs and the primary election is June 2.  Challenger Tony Ottaviani is opposed to higher taxes from the Kirwan Commission and he does not believe the school board should have its own taxing authority.

Deb Litman said that she believes the current board did the best it could regarding the aborted search for a new superintendent.
